NATIONAL DAY OF AWARENESS

MMIWG2s

May 5, known as Red Dress Day, is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S).

It is a day to honour those whose lives have been taken or who remain missing, while recognizing the ongoing impacts of colonialism, systemic violence, and injustice faced by Indigenous communities.

The red dress has become a powerful symbol of the absence left behind and the voices that must be heard. This day is important not only for remembrance, but for action. By raising awareness, supporting families, and advocating for meaningful change, we move closer to justice, safety, and accountability.
